In recorded history the Great Barrier Reef has never known the number of threats it is now facing, from the growing mining industry and the ship that will service it, to reduced environmental protections and reduced marine sanctuary status. The UN via the World Heritage Listing has even put Australia on notice, however it appears with no avail.
On August 2013 "Rally For The Reef" in Brisbane was held. There were speakers at the event, followed by a march around the CBD and it ended with more speakers and entertainment.
